Day 5

Day 5.

Late start today.

Our first session was at a school called Frederick Smith. We arrived 10 minutes before our scheduled time, only to be told the session was cancelled because of the examination period that is going on. From what I gather, I think this will be a regular theme throughout the next few weeks. Luckily the session was not far from home, and we could drive home and chill out for an hour or so.

Our next session was scheduled at a school called Alma Paris. This school is apparently the lowest school in the country and is the school where kids get sent when they are expelled or have behavioural problems. We found this out very soon into our session. Kids were constantly punching and pushing each other, looking for a fight in essence. This made the session very difficult to control and midway through the session, after control was retained, a fight broke out. It was a mad fight with one kid absolutely steaming into the other. Luckily there was a teacher on hand to break it up and allow us to carry on with our session. In all honesty, the session wasn't toooo bad. We got everything done we wanted to and I personally think the kids enjoyed themselves. There is alway going to be troublemakers in every school we go to, so Alma Paris is no difference in that respect. However, I think Shaz and I will enjoy this challenge and hopefully see an improvement in the majority of the children by the end of the programme.

Our next session was at a school called Harrison College. This was cancelled because the school was unaware that we were coming. Annoying!!

Shaz and I came home, went for a jog and then chilled for the rest of the evening.

Weird day!

All the best

Luke
