Day 7
Day Seven started with Shaz and Myself waking up at 7:30 on a Saturday morning. It seems ages ago that we would perhaps stumble out of bed on a Saturday in our respective home towns of Ladbroke Grove and Enfield Town. Not only was it an early start, it was also chucking it down with rain!!
We had a session at Alma Paris from 9-12 on our schedule. We arrived 10 minutes prior to our session start time but still no children were there. A few minutes later Mr Martindale turned up with 4 kids who had come from the South, quite a while away! Shaz and I were both eager to do a session despite the lack of participants. We are tired of the word cancellation. 2 more kids turned up 5 minutes in our session, so the number rose to 6! We did a bit of everything in our session to be honest. Dribbling, defending and shooting! We had to make do.
As I said in my introductory paragraph, it was tipping it down! So we reduced the session to 2 hours, from 9-11:00. The rain meant the kids were soaked plus the pitch was getting quite torn up, which was not ideal for the cricket game that was going on later that day.. which we were reminded of by the groundsmen!!
Aran and Evan surprised us with a visit to the Holder household! Fair play to them for finding it. We went for some lunch with them, an exotic KFC meal, and then headed back to ours to chill out and plan the rest of our trip in terms of excursions etc. There's loads of places we want to go so the list was pretty much endless.
Aran and Evan had a game tonight, so Shaz and I went to watch. Aran and Evan are 10 times better footballers than me so I decided to sit out this week. The players are so strong and fast out here it's crazy! Typically, Evan got a yellow card with his first tackle which was hilarious, I would of put my life savings that he would get booked. Aran also managed to get a yellow card after a few clumsy tackles. In my opinion, his tackles were clumsy but purely because the boys weren't use to the pace of the players so it was hard to correctly time their tackles!! They both played really well and i'm kinda gutted that I didn't play! Need to work on my confidence big time! I play a lot back in England but men's football in England is a different kettle of fish to out here in Barbados! English mens football that I play, I would say is quite slow, physical and lots of passing. Where as in Barbados, it's punt it and run and clatter into another player.
A decent day.
All the best
Luke
